With support from the Lawrence Batley Theatre and Arts Council England, Tom Lodge’s new play receives its first site-specific production inside the disused Poundworld in Huddersfield’s Piazza Shopping Centre.
Every Thing is directed by Will Maynard and explores themes of class, identity and declining high street retail over the course of a 70-minute drama spanning three decades.
If you define yourself by your work, what happens when your work disappears?
With just eight hours left to sell what remains in his shop, entrepreneur Charlie’s final day of trading in his once-thriving electrical goods store is thrown into chaos by the arrival of Frankie, a long-time friend and colleague. To make things worse, they haven’t spoken in ten years and the kettle’s on the blink. Recriminations, rebuttals and biscuits fly as the pair attempt to rebuild their friendship of thirty-odd years.
Running from 21 to 23 October 2021, Every Thing tackles big issues from a local perspective in a truly unique way. Tickets are ‘pay what you feel’ up to £15 and include a free cup of tea to enjoy with the performance.
