Linda Sammonds asked us to point the spotlight at Sammonds Marketing, and we were happy to oblige!
Can you introduce your business in 10 words or less?
Marketing support for local businesses.
How long has your business been running, and what drove you to start it?
Opened in January this year – after a tough 2020 I knew that I wanted to do more for my local community, so I went self-employed to help local businesses who want to recover from last year and grow.
Where is your business based, and what led you to choose to be based there?
Huddersfield – this is my home and I am a firm believer in supporting local.
What are your most popular items/services? Why do you think this is popular with customers?
Social media and digital campaigns are very popular right now – so many customers are now online due to current restrictions, many businesses are reacting quickly and shifting their focus to online to make sure they are seen by these customers. Ones who relied on the high street before, now have online shops to sell their products and are promoting themselves
Do you have any employees?
Just me at the moment – although I wear many hats as a marketer and business owner!
What’s your favourite job/task that you do as part of your business, and why?
I love sharing the results of my work, knowing that I have helped them and taken some of the pressure off.
What impact has the pandemic/lockdown had on your business? Would you carry on with any of your new ways of working even when things are back to normal?
The pandemic means that I cannot meet clients in person, at the moment everything is done by phone and email – something I’m looking forward to changing as soon as it is safe. I’m ready for brainstorming sessions and meetings over a good coffee and a cake!
Where do you see yourself/your business in 5 years?
I want to be helping people across Huddersfield and beyond – taking care of their marketing so they can focus on running their business
What piece of advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own business?
Get a good solid plan in place and then jump in. Don’t overthink it. You may be scared but don’t doubt yourself – you can do it
