Can you introduce your business in 10 words or less?
An exceptional home care and help service.
How long has your business been running, and what drove you to start it?
Our business opened January 11th 2021 – I started this business to work for myself as I’ve worked in the corporate world as a Registered Health and Social Care Manager.
Where is your business based, and what led you to choose to be based there?
We are based in Holmfirth and will cover surrounding areas – I live in this area and there is a need for this service in this area.
What are your most popular items/services? Why do you think this is popular with customers?
Companionship, activities and shopping for people who are housebound – due to the pandemic people are feeling isolated and may not want to go out.
Do you have any employees?
No, just me.
What’s your favourite job/task that you do as part of your business, and why?
I love the appreciation of our families for helping them care and support their loved one in a person centred way
What impact has the pandemic/lockdown had on your business? Would you carry on with any of your new ways of working even when things are back to normal?
The business opened during the second lockdown – new ways of working are; being Covid tested twice a week, ensuring safety of customers and increased awareness of Infection Control.
Where do you see yourself/your business in 5 years?
Employing a maximum of five staff – to keep my business small to ensure we are delivering a person centred service and to retain staff members so that customers are seeing the same staff member at all times.
What piece of advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own business?
Go for it!! What have you got to lose?
