Police appeal for witnesses following shocking attack on a car in Marsh

Detectives are appealing for witnesses as investigations continue into a disorder incident in which a car was attacked in Huddersfield.

Kirklees CID would like to speak to anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident on Westbourne Road in Huddersfield during the afternoon of Saturday May 8 which involved three males.

Following a full examination of the scene and subsequent enquiries officers have now ruled out a suggestion that a firearm may have been discharged.

Police were called to Westbourne Road at about 2.11pm to a report a group of three masked men had attacked a dark orange Peugeot 3008 with bladed weapons.

The car drove off from the scene and the suspects then fled, with two leaving on foot and one getting into a taxi.

They were described as young males and were masked and wearing dark clothing.

Detective Inspector Jeanette Yates of Kirklees CID, said: “This was clearly a serious incident and a full range of enquiries have been ongoing by specialist officers.

“We have now established that a gun was not fired in the incident itself and, following further enquiries, know there were no serious injuries to the victims in the car.

“Behaviour of the kind we saw is clearly not acceptable on our streets and I would ask anyone who has information which could help us catch those responsible to contact Kirklees CID on 101 referencing police log 831 of May 8.

“Information can also be given online at www.westyorkshire.police.uk.101livechat or anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
