Police appeal for witnesses following serious assault in Swan Lane, Huddersfield

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in an incident in Huddersfield.

Kirklees District CID would like to speak with anyone who can assist investigations into the incident on Swan Lane between 9,30pm and 10,30pm on Sunday April 18.

The incident took place after the 42-year-old victim was approached by a group of males while walking near a takeaway with his son. The pair were attacked with the 42-year-old suffering knife injuries to his body.

They managed to flee the scene in a vehicle and reported the offence from another location.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to non life threatening injuries.

Several police scenes were established in the area as part of the investigation.

Detective Inspector Toby Facey of Kirklees District CID, said: “This was a concerning incident in which the victim could very easily have suffered even more serious and potentially life changing injuries.

“We are conducting a full investigation into the attack and I would ask anyone who saw the attack or suspicious behaviour on Swan Lane near the Burger Boys takeaway to make contact with Kirklees CID on 101
