Peaceful rally planned in town square today

A number of Huddersfield organisations have got behind planning a demonstration in unity with the national Stop the War Coalition. The stated aim of this is to “Stand together for an end to Israel’s ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people, and for the right of return for all exiled Palestinians.”

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has raged for over a hundred years, but recent hostilities geared up around the middle of April, with no end in sight.

Huddersfield Stop the War Coalition, Palestine Support Network Huddersfield, Huddersfield TUC and concerned local residents are backing the rally. Much emphasis has been put on maintaining Covid-19 safety regulations during the demonstration, and that it remains peaceful.

It will begin at 3pm in St George’s Square.
