A number of areas across Kirklees will have access to a one-day mobile collection point to enable people to access Covid-19 Lateral Flow home testing kits.
In a national effort to reduce infection rates, twice-weekly asymptomatic Covid-19 testing is currently available for everyone in England.
Kirklees Council are piloting the collection point schemes in recognition that some people have difficulty accessing the current options of getting the testing kits.
One-day collection points are being set up in Skelmanthorpe, Golcar. Linthwaite, Ravensthorpe, and Gomersal between the dates of 15 April – 18 April 2021. (See the dates below)
The Council are conducting this pilot scheme to better understand demand for this type of service and are encouraging those who are struggling to make use of the collection points. Anyone over 18 can collect two packs of home testing kits (containing seven tests each).
There is no requirement to book to collect the kits. All kits come with instructions on how to use the tests and how frequently you should take them. Staff will be on hand to guide people through the process and individuals will also be able to take a lateral flow Covid-19 test at the collection point if they wish to.
Rachel Spencer-Henshall, Strategic Director for Public Health at Kirklees Council, said: “In addition to getting vaccinated and always remembering hands, face, space, another great way you can help reduce the spread of Covid-19 in your community is getting a rapid lateral flow test twice a week if you are not showing any symptoms.”
“We’re piloting these mobile collection points to make it even easier for people to take up the offer of getting tested twice a week.”
