Longer opening hours during summer at Kirklees Recycling Centres

Kirklees residents are set to benefit from the introduction of extra extended opening hours at Household Waste Recycling Centres to coincide with the longer days of summer.

All five of Kirklees Council’s HWRCs will switch to summer opening hours on Monday 1st August, when they would normally extend most working days by an hour.

This year Kirklees Council is going one step further by adding a further hour of opening from Monday to Friday and on Sundays so that residents can recycle or dispose of their waste.

Councillor Will Simpson, Cabinet Member for Culture and Greener Kirklees said:

“We are delighted to be able to extend the opening hours of our HWRCs thanks to the interim waste contract that we agreed with SUEZ last Autumn, which is improving our waste services.

“The extra hours in the week will mean residents have more time to visit and can avoid peak weekend hours. This might also help residents that do not use our Brown Bin service to recycle their garden waste over the peak growing season.

“It also means more time for residents to make use of the new Reuse facilities at Emerald Street in Huddersfield and Weaving Lane in Dewsbury, all of which are helping us to build a cleaner and greener Kirklees.”

The following opening hours come into operation on Monday 1st August.

Day               Opening times

Mon-Fri         8am to 6pm
