Kixx offers free PE lessons to schools in Huddersfield

Children’s football and Sports Education specialists, Kixx Huddersfield, have been creating and providing free online PE Lessons to schools and teachers across Huddersfield during the latest lockdown. In just a couple of weeks the videos have reached thousands of children, not just in Huddersfield but across the entire country.

Following the national lockdown announcement, the team at Kixx Huddersfield wasted no time in getting both behind and in front of the camera. The interactive PE lessons are designed in line with the KS1 Curriculum and delivered by coaches who are highly qualified in this area of Physical Education.

Since the lockdown announcement, Kixx Huddersfield have shared three lessons with thousands already tuning in across Huddersfield and the number continues to rise with teachers already providing incredible feedback.

Matt Ellison, the owner of Kixx Huddersfield commented:

“As soon as we heard the news of the lockdown we wanted to do something that would be free and provide some extra support for the schools, teachers and parents who are already doing such an incredible job trying to keep the country’s education standards going.

“It can be quite difficult for some teachers or schools to create and share PE Lessons during these times if it’s not done in a live format. We knew we had the team and technology available to us, to be able to create something that Teachers could fit into their own plans and create interactive lessons each week that children would have lots of fun with too. “It’s actually a real Kixx community project as we teamed up with other Kixx Academy owners across the country and our national Kixx Education team, to create high quality sessions with fantastic visual and engaging content that will keep children both active and entertained during lockdown.”

“We are proud of the lessons we have developed so far and extremely humbled by the reaction we are receiving from teachers, MP’s, sporting professionals and parents of the children who are watching the lessons.” Each Kixx Education PE Lesson video will use different activities and a variety of sports alongside delivering KS1 educational content. The interactive videos are around 15 minutes long but can be paused at various moments to take part in each short activity.

Mark Crouch, Head Teacher at Hepworth J & I School said:
“Our pupils love the Kixx online PE videos as it gets them up and active at a time when they can’t run around and play with friends.

“The videos are professional, and the coaches involved are fantastic running the sessions. We want to thank Matt at Kixx Huddersfield and the team at Kixx Education for supporting our pupils with their PE during lockdown.” For participating schools, the Kixx Huddersfield team will send a link to a new lesson every week that the country stays in lockdown to help support everyone involved.

For any teachers or schools who would like to access the free lessons or would like to watch a lesson to see if they are relevant for their pupils, you can email or message the Kixx Huddersfield Facebook page.
