Huddersfield Town Centre to host ‘Yorkshire Soapbox Race’

A Yorkshire Soapbox Race event is being held in Huddersfield Town Centre this September.

The exciting event, organised by Huddersfield BID will see an opportunity for businesses and organisation to get involved and race together towards victory on Sunday 19th September 2021.

Soapbox races usually attract huge footfall with lots of people excited to get a glimpse of the action. As such, businesses who are usually closed on a Sunday are encouraged to open up to visitors on this special day.

Huddersfield BID manager, Sam Sharp comments, “This is an exciting event to put Huddersfield on the map as the place to take part in a soapbox race in Yorkshire. It will bring the whole town alive and provide a full day of entertainment, thrills and great offers”.

Huddersfield BID, Marketing and Projects Executive Sophie Patel comments, “We have put together simple instructions on how to build your soapbox which can be found on the BID website. My only advice would be stick to the terms and conditions. However, be as wacky and creative with your soapbox and team costumes. Most importantly enjoy yourselves. This is the Soapbox event you do not want to miss.”

Huddersfield BID are recommending businesses become sponsors of the event, ensuring priority promotion throughout the lead up and on the day. They are also creating booklets to hand out on the day, showcasing businesses and offers free to all businesses in the town centre, as well as promoting on the LoyalFree App.
