HD Soup – A comforting bowl of community goodness

An exciting event is coming to Huddersfield, to make a difference to our community and the groups that serve her!

What is SOUP?  It’s an opportunity for the community to come together to support projects and community groups in the South Kirklees area (HD postcode). Your project must benefit those who live or attend your project/service with an HD postcode.

When is it? Wednesday 11th May 2022, 6.30pm – 8.30pm

Where is it? The inaugural HD Soup event will take place at Hive Community Café in St Georges Square, Huddersfield.

How does it work? This is different depending on if you want to pitch or attend:

» Book your place here – you’ll pay £5 on the day, but the HD Soupsters need to know how many people are coming.
» Take yourself and your fiver along to Hive cafe on May 11th for a 6.30pm start, and receive soup and a token in exchange.
» Enjoy a bowl of tasty Hivemade soup whilst listening to pitches from three community groups.
» Think carefully about which group you think is most deserving of your token, and use it to vote when the time comes.
» The group with most tokens wins the money taken at the door, in addition to proceeds from any fundraising activities on the night.
» Head home with a warm and happy feeling, from a combination of soup and supporting the community!

Community Groups
» If your group would like to be considered to pitch, please email hd_soup@hivecommunity.org.uk by April 27th – you’ll find out if you were successful by May 3rd.
» Come along on May 11th and pitch your community group to the attendees – tell us why your group should get the cash! Three groups will pitch on the night.
» Attendees will vote with their tokens when all pitches have been done.
» The group with the most tokens wins the money – the sum of the £5 entry fees from the attendees.
» In return, all HD Soup ask is that you come to the next event to briefly tell everyone what you spent the money on, and the impact it had!

For this project to work we need as many people as possible to come and support the event and network.

There are also speaking opportunities in our ‘Learn about us’ section of the evening – this is not a pitch, but an opportunity to share best practices, good news or an idea/project you may have that you feel is relevant to the wider audience.

Booking is essential – we can’t stress this enough. Remember, you pay on the night.

If you run a business that would like to sponsor the event or contribute to the raffle prize please call into Hive Café or email hd_soup@hivecommunity.org.uk
