Growing Great Places launch drop-in for summer funding ideas

Growing Great Places is a community crowd-funding programme which aims to provide support to local ideas and projects which benefit the community.

The programme encourages ideas, projects and initiatives that help benefit the community in various different ways, for example helping to tackle loneliness, improving mental health and wellbeing, activities for young people or helping the community to ‘bounce back’. Successful campaigns could receive up to £5,000 from Kirklees Council.

Previously, a number of projects have been successful at obtaining funding through the Growing Great Places programme including, ‘Give A Few Words’, Thongsbridge Wild Space project and the Holme Valley Pots of Fun project to name a few.

In order to encourage more ideas, Kirklees Council have launched 3 online drop-in sessions, where prospective applicants can obtain further information about community crowdfunding, as well as answering questions and providing advice on how to run a successful campaign.

The drop-in dates are on Wednesday 3rd March at 2pm, Wednesday 17th March at 10am and Wednesday 31st March at 12 noon. To book onto one of these sessions visit

The deadline for applications is 21st April 2021. For more information visit
