Festive Light Trail brings joy to areas of Huddersfield

With events and parties throughout the year were cancelled due to the pandemic, charities and community organisations were hit hard, losing their ability to fundraise to support themselves.

The Kirkwood, in Dalton, is one such organisation that has turned to other means of raising much needed funds with their Festive Light Trail.

Opening their doors in 1987, The Kirkwood aimed to provide end of life care in a comfortable and homely environment, as at the time no facility like this existed in Huddersfield or surrounding areas.  It was the brainchild of David Stocks, of Oakes, who made the first steps towards getting a committee together to fundraise for the ambitious task.

This Christmas, several areas of Huddersfield – Honley, Almondbury, Fenay Bridge, Lepton, Fixby & Cowcliffe will have lit-up trails of Christmas cheer up to Thursday December 24th 2020.  Each area has a map that you can download from here: https://www.thekirkwood.org.uk/how-you-can-help/campaigns/festive-light-trail

If you take photos of your trip to the trail, don’t forget to share on social media and Use the hashtag #thekirkwoodFLT!

You can also donate to The Kirkwood by texting SPARKLE 5 (or the amount you’d like to donate) to 70470.
