Huddersfield’s popular agricultural attraction, known to locals as the Emley Show, has been cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and restraints surrounding events. The event was scheduled to take place on 7th August, following a tradition of holding the show on the first Saturday of every August.

In a statement released on the Emley Show’s Facebook page, it was written “It is with a heavy heart, sadness and regret that the Directors and Trustees of Emley Show Society, have taken the difficult decision to cancel Emley Show 2021 which was due to be held on Saturday 7th August. This is due entirely to the ongoing Covid 19 Pandemic and the restrictions around the holding of events […]”.  It continues, explaining that a full statement and further information can be found on their website.

The Emley Show provides various activities and entertainment for families as well as competitions and an agrarian experience. This news marks the second cancellation of this event, following from last year in which a similar statement was posted informing the public that it would not be taking place.

On their Facebook page, the Emley Show thanked everyone for their “continued interest and support” and despite this drawback, hopes are high for the future with the Emley show hoping to return next year.
