Birds and Beasts album launch this Saturday at Lawrence Batley Theatre

Local legends Birds and Beasts will be performing at the Laurence Batley Theatre, in celebration of the release of their latest album Kozmik Disko.

The husband-and-wife duo will be bringing their unique brand of psychedelic folk-tinged rock to the Cellar Theatre on Saturday, 23rd October.

Anna and Leo Brazil were driven to start performing music together whilst snowed in at a log cabin in Anna’s native Germany, and have so far released two full-length albums: 2018’s Entwined, and Kozmik Disko, released in March this year.

As their latest album was released during lockdown, the band are belatedly celebrating its release with this special performance at such a grand venue.

As their name suggests, Birds and Beasts’ songs are inspired by animals and the natural world, and they forge a distinctive sound. Inspired by ’60s psychedelia and folk, some tunes bring to mind the likes of Jefferson Airplane or Fleetwood Mac, with a nuanced balance of gentle acoustics, and sizzling synths and electic guitars.

The LBT concert will also premiere animated visuals that will play alongside the band. Support comes from Ocean Colour Scene’s Dan Sealey.

Doors open at 7:45pm. Tickets are priced at £11.50, and can be purchased here.
